NCBI Description

[More information is available at EcoCyc: EG10787].

Uniprot Description

The phosphoenolpyruvate-dependent sugar phosphotransferase system (sugar PTS), a major carbohydrate active transport system, catalyzes the phosphorylation of incoming sugar substrates concomitantly with their translocation across the cell membrane. The enzyme II complex composed of PtsG and Crr is involved in glucose transport (PubMed:3129430, PubMed:10562420). Also functions as a chemoreceptor monitoring the environment for changes in sugar concentration and an effector modulating the activity of the transcriptional repressor Mlc (PubMed:18319344).

It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "PTS system glucose-specific EIICB component (ptsG), Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
