NCBI Description
This gene encodes a member of the trypsin family of serine proteases. Studies in mouse suggest that the encoded enzyme may be involved in structural reorganizations associated with learning and memory. The enzyme is also expressed in Leydig cells in the testis, but its function in this tissue is unknown. Defects in this gene are a cause of mental retardation autosomal recessive type 1 (MRT1). Uniprot Description
PRSS12: Plays a role in neuronal plasticity and the proteolytic action may subserve structural reorganizations associated with learning and memory operations. Defects in PRSS12 are the cause of mental retardation autosomal recessive type 1 (MRT1). Mental retardation is a mental disorder characterized by significantly sub-average general intellectual functioning associated with impairments in adaptative behavior and manifested during the developmental period. Non-syndromic mental retardation patients do not manifest other clinical signs. Belongs to the peptidase S1 family.

Product Notes
The PRSS12 prss12 (Catalog #
AAA153222) is a Blocking Peptide and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's Neurotrypsin can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Blocking (BL). Neurotrypsin peptide is used for blocking the activity of Neurotrypsin antibody. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PRSS12 prss12 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process.
It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of
"Neurotrypsin, Blocking Peptide" to become dispersed throughout the inside of
the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always
suggest centrifuging these vials
to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to
opening. Please be advised that
certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an
additional dry ice fee may also be
required.
