Prolactin (PRL)

Applications
Cell Assay
Synonyms
Prolactin (PRL); Luterotropic hormone; Lutetropin; Mammotropin; PRL; PRL recombinant protein
Ordering
For Research Use Only!
Host
E Coli
Form/Format
Lyophilized from a concentrated solution in PBS.
Applicable Applications for PRL recombinant protein
Cell Assay
Species
Human
Endotoxin Level
<1.0EU/ug of recombinant protein as determined by the LAL method
Reconstitution
It is recommended to reconstitute lyophilized PRL in sterile distilled water to no less than 100ug/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.
Preparation and Storage
The lyophilized protein is stable for at least one year from date of receipt at -70 degree C. Upon reconstitution, this cytokine can be stored in working aliquots at 2 degree -8 degree C for one month, or at -20 degree C for six months, with a carrier protein without detectable loss of activity. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

Related Product Information for PRL recombinant protein
Recombinant Human Prolactin (PRL) was expressed in E Coli cells. The protein accession number is P01236
Synthesized primarily by the pituitary gland, prolactin is a neuroendocrine hormone that functions to promote and maintain lactation and has also been shown to play a role in breast cancer development, regulation of reproductive function and immune-regulation. While Human prolactin shares only 60% and 63% amino acid sequence identity with mouse and rat prolactin, respectively, the human prolactin receptor can be activated by Rat PRL. abm's Recombinant Human PRL is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain with a molecular mass of 23kDa.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes the anterior pituitary hormone prolactin. This secreted hormone is a growth regulator for many tissues, including cells of the immune system. It may also play a role in cell survival by suppressing apoptosis, and it is essential for lactation. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants that encode the same protein. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2011]

Uniprot Description

prolactin: Prolactin acts primarily on the mammary gland by promoting lactation. Belongs to the somatotropin/prolactin family.

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 6p22.3

Cellular Component: extracellular region

Molecular Function: protein binding; prolactin receptor binding; hormone activity

Biological Process: lactation; cell proliferation; cell surface receptor linked signal transduction; regulation of multicellular organism growth; positive regulation of JAK-STAT cascade; female pregnancy

Product Notes

The PRL prl (Catalog #AAA517483) is a Recombinant Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's Prolactin (PRL) can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Cell Assay. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PRL prl for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Prolactin (PRL), Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
