Principle of the Assay: This assay employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate PRDM12 in samples. An antibody specific for PRDM12 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyPRDM12 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for PRDM12 is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of PRDM12 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a transcriptional regulator of sensory neuronal specification that plays a critical role in pain perception. The encoded protein contains an N-terminal PRDI-BF1 and RIZ homology (PR) domain, a SET domain, and three C-terminal C2H2 zinc finger DNA-binding domains. Naturally occurring mutations in this gene are associated with congenital insensitivity to pain (CIP), and hereditary sensory and autonomic neuropathies (HSAN's) affecting peripheral sensory and autonomic neurons. Deregulation of this gene is associated with solid cancers and hematological malignancies including chronic myeloid leukaemia. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2017]
