Immunogen
A synthesized peptide derived from human ZBTB38.
Conjugation
Unconjugated
Similarity
The BTB domain is not required for activation of transcription or self-association.
Post Translational Modifications
Ubiquitinated by RBBP6; leading to its degradation by the proteasome.
Subunit Structure
Interacts with CBFA2T3. Interacts with ZBTB4. Interacts with RBBP6.
Function
Transcriptional regulator with bimodal DNA-binding specificity. Binds with a higher affinity to methylated CpG dinucleotides in the consensus sequence 5'-CGCG-3' but can also bind to E-box elements (5'-CACGTG-3'). Can also bind specifically to a single methyl-CpG pair. Represses transcription in a methyl-CpG-dependent manner. Plays an important role in regulating DNA replication and common fragile sites (CFS) stability in a RBBP6- and MCM10-dependent manner; represses expression of MCM10 which plays an important role in DNA-replication. Acts as a transcriptional activator. May be involved in the differentiation and/or survival of late postmitotic neurons (By similarity).
Note
Localizes to chromocenters.
Preparation and Storage
Store at -20 degree C. Stable for 12 months from date of receipt.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a zinc finger transcriptional activator that binds methylated DNA. The encoded protein can form homodimers or heterodimers through the zinc finger domains. In mouse, inhibition of this protein has been associated with apoptosis in some cell types. [provided by RefSeq, Jun 2010]

Uniprot Description

ZBTB38: Acts as a transcriptional activator. May be involved in the differentiation and/or survival of late postmitotic neurons.

Product Notes

The ZBTB38 zbtb38 (Catalog #AAA9630924) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The ZBTB38 Antibody reacts with Human, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's ZBTB38 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA)(peptide). ELISA(peptide): 1:20000-1:40000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the ZBTB38 zbtb38 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "ZBTB38, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
