Related Product Information for anti-YY1 antibody
YY1 is a ubiquitously distributed transcription factor belonging to the GLI-Kruppel class of zinc finger proteins. The protein is involved in repressing and activating a diverse number of promoters. YY1 may direct histone deacetylases and histone acetyltransferases to a promoter in order to activate or repress the promoter, thus implicating histone modification in the function of YY1.

NCBI Description

YY1 is a ubiquitously distributed transcription factor belonging to the GLI-Kruppel class of zinc finger proteins. The protein is involved in repressing and activating a diverse number of promoters. YY1 may direct histone deacetylases and histone acetyltransferases to a promoter in order to activate or repress the promoter, thus implicating histone modification in the function of YY1. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

YY1: a polycomb-group (Pc-G) protein essential for early mammalian development and the regulation of X-inactivation and certain imprinted genes. Required for the transactivation of TSIX by CTCF. The complex of CTCF-YY1-TSIX is a critical regulator of the X chromosome binary switch. Can function as an activator or a repressor depending on the presence of other proteins. For example it acts as a repressor in absence of adenovirus E1A protein but as an activator in its presence.

Protein type: Cell development/differentiation; C2H2-type zinc finger protein; Transcription factor

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 14q

Cellular Component: transcription factor complex; nuclear matrix; PcG protein complex; nucleus

Molecular Function: protein binding; four-way junction DNA binding; DNA binding; zinc ion binding; RNA binding; transcription coactivator activity; SMAD binding; transcription corepressor activity; transcription factor activity

Biological Process: regulation of transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter; anterior/posterior pattern formation; RNA localization; camera-type eye morphogenesis; transcription, DNA-dependent; spermatogenesis; negative regulation of transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter; cell differentiation; response to DNA damage stimulus; chromosome organization and biogenesis; response to UV-C; double-strand break repair via homologous recombination

Product Notes

The YY1 yy1 (Catalog #AAA9204427) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The immunogen sequence is 268-297. The YY1 Antibody (Center) reacts with Human, mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's YY1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), ELISA (EIA), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). WB~~1:1000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the YY1 yy1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "YY1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
