Related Product Information for anti-WWOX antibody
WW domain-containing proteins are found in all eukaryotes and play an important role in the regulation of a wide variety of cellular functions such as protein degradation, transcription, and RNA splicing. This gene encodes a protein which contains 2 WW domains and a short-chain dehydrogenase/reductase domain (SRD). The highest normal expression of this gene is detected in hormonally regulated tissues such as testis, ovary, and prostate. This expression pattern and the presence of an SRD domain suggest a role for this gene in steroid metabolism. Bednarek A.K., Cancer Res. 60:2140-2145(2000).Ried K., Hum. Mol. NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the short-chain dehydrogenases/reductases (SDR) protein family. This gene spans the FRA16D common chromosomal fragile site and appears to function as a tumor suppressor gene. Expression of the encoded protein is able to induce apoptosis, while defects in this gene are associated with multiple types of cancer. Disruption of this gene is also associated with autosomal recessive spinocerebellar ataxia 12. Disruption of a similar gene in mouse results in impaired steroidogenesis, additionally suggesting a metabolic function for the protein. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, May 2014]

Uniprot Description

WWOX: an enzyme which contains 2 WW domains and a short-chain dehydrogenase/reductase domain (SRD). Expressed at high levels in hormonally regulated tissues such as testis, ovary, and prostate. Its SRD domain suggest a role for this gene in steroid metabolism. Shown to be an essential mediator of tumor necrosis factor-alpha-induced apoptosis in the mouse. May play a similar role in the human. May function as a suppressor of tumor growth. Alternative splicing of this gene generates 7 isoforms.

Product Notes

The WWOX wwox (Catalog #AAA9413779) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The WWOX (Phospho-Tyr33) Antibody reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's WWOX can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). Western blotting: 1:500~1:1000 Immunohistochemistry: 1:50~1:100. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the WWOX wwox for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "WWOX, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
