NCBI Description

This gene encodes a transcription factor that contains four zinc-finger motifs at the C-terminus and a proline/glutamine-rich DNA-binding domain at the N-terminus. It has an essential role in the normal development of the urogenital system, and it is mutated in a small subset of patients with Wilms tumor. This gene exhibits complex tissue-specific and polymorphic imprinting pattern, with biallelic, and monoallelic expression from the maternal and paternal alleles in different tissues. Multiple transcript variants have been described. In several variants, there is evidence for the use of a non-AUG (CUG) translation initiation codon upstream of, and in-frame with the first AUG. Authors of PMID:7926762 also provide evidence that WT1 mRNA undergoes RNA editing in human and rat, and that this process is tissue-restricted and developmentally regulated. Uniprot Description

WT1: a DNA binding protein and apparent transcriptional regulator. Recognizes and binds to the DNA sequence 5'-CGCCCCCGC-3'. Expressed in the kidney and a subset of hematopoietic cells. Defects in WT1 are the cause of Wilms tumor 1 (WT1), an embryonal malignancy of the kidney that affects approximately 1 in 10'000 infants and young children. It occurs both in sporadic and hereditary forms. Four alternatively spliced isoforms have been described.

Product Notes

The WT1 wt1 (Catalog #AAA6363801) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The WT1, ID (E361) (WT1, Wilms tumor protein, WT33) (Azide free) (HRP) reacts with Human, Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's WT1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Paraffin, Western Blot (WB), ELISA (EIA). Applications are based on unconjugated antibody. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the WT1 wt1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "WT1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
