NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene encodes a member of the vanin family of proteins, which share extensive sequence similarity with each other, and also with biotinidase. The family includes secreted and membrane-associated proteins, a few of which have been reported to participate in hematopoietic cell trafficking. No biotinidase activity has been demonstrated for any of the vanin proteins, however, they possess pantetheinase activity, which may play a role in oxidative-stress response. This protein, like its mouse homolog, is likely a GPI-anchored cell surface molecule. The mouse protein is expressed by the perivascular thymic stromal cells and regulates migration of T-cell progenitors to the thymus. This gene lies in close proximity to, and in the same transcriptional orientation as, two other vanin genes on chromosome 6q23-q24. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2009]

Product Notes
The VNN1 vnn1 (Catalog #AAA2066997) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The APC-Linked Polyclonal Antibody to Vanin 1 (VNN1) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Vanin 1 (VNN1) can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunocytochemistry (ICC), Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Formalin/Paraffin, ELISA (ELISA). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the VNN1 vnn1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Vanin 1 (VNN1), Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
