Related Product Information for anti-UGT1A1 antibody
The human UDP-glucuronosyltransferase 1 (UGT1) locus encodes at least ten UGT1A proteins (UGT1A1-UGT1A10) that play a prominent role in drug and xenobiotic metabolism. Research indicates that nuclear receptors such as pregnane X receptor (PXR), constitutive androstane receptor (CAR) and peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR) can regulate UGTs, which may contribute to the tissue-specific expression pattern of UGTs. Deficiency in the expression and/or activity of UGTs may lead to genetic and acquired diseases such as Crigler-Najjar syndrome and Gilbert syndrome. Based on their ability to catalyze the glucuronidation of xenobiotics and endobiotics, UGTs play a critical role in hormonal homeostasis, energy metabolism, bilirubin clearance and xenobiotic detoxification. UDP-glucuronosyltransferase 1A1 (UGT1A), also designated Bilirubin specific UDPGT isozyme 1 (HUG-BR1), is crucial in the conjugation and elimination of toxic zenobiotics and endogenous compounds. Defects in UGT1A1 may cause transient familial neonatal hyperbilirubinemia associated with breast milk, which is characterizied by excessive concentration of bilirubin in the blood, leading to jaundice.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a UDP-glucuronosyltransferase, an enzyme of the glucuronidation pathway that transforms small lipophilic molecules, such as steroids, bilirubin, hormones, and drugs, into water-soluble, excretable metabolites. This gene is part of a complex locus that encodes several UDP-glucuronosyltransferases. The locus includes thirteen unique alternate first exons followed by four common exons. Four of the alternate first exons are considered pseudogenes. Each of the remaining nine 5' exons may be spliced to the four common exons, resulting in nine proteins with different N-termini and identical C-termini. Each first exon encodes the substrate binding site, and is regulated by its own promoter. The preferred substrate of this enzyme is bilirubin, although it also has moderate activity with simple phenols, flavones, and C18 steroids. Mutations in this gene result in Crigler-Najjar syndromes types I and II and in Gilbert syndrome. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Product Notes

The UGT1A1 ugt1a1 (Catalog #AAA3011394) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The UGT1A1 Polyclonal Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's UGT1A1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). WB: 1:500-1:2000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the UGT1A1 ugt1a1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "UGT1A1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
