Related Product Information for anti-TORC2 antibody
Short Description: Our TORC2 antibody (pAb) was raised in a Rabbit host. It has been validated for use in Immunoprecipitation and Western blot; it has been shown to react with Human and Mouse samples.

Background: TORC2 (Transducer of regulated cAMP response element-binding protein 2)(CRTC2 or CREB-regulated transcription coactivator 2) is a coactivator of transcription through the CREB1 signaling pathway, independent of phosphorylation at serine 133. Involved in metabolic signaling pathways, it is responsive to glucagon signaling and regulates gluconeogenesis. It is a potent activator of mitochondrial biogenesis in muscle cells. TORC2 is inactivated by phosphorylation at serine 171 (in response to both insulin signaling and the activation of AMPK), which facilitates recognition by 14-3-3 protein and subsequent translocation to the cytoplasm.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the transducers of regulated cAMP response element-binding protein activity family of transcription coactivators. These proteins promote the transcription of genes targeted by the cAMP response element-binding protein, and therefore play an important role in many cellular processes. Under basal conditions the encoded protein is phosphorylated by AMP-activated protein kinase or the salt-inducible kinases and is sequestered in the cytoplasm. Upon activation by elevated cAMP or calcium, the encoded protein translocates to the nucleus and increases target gene expression. Single nucleotide polymorphisms in this gene may increase the risk of type 2 diabetes. A pseudogene of this gene is located on the long arm of chromosome 5. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2010]

Uniprot Description

TORC2: the transducer of regulated CREB protein 2 (TORC2) is a cAMP responsive coactivator that, in concert with LKB1 and AMPK, controls glucose homeostasis in the liver. Under fasting conditions, cytoplasmic TORC2 is transported to the nucleus where it binds to CREB and stimulates gluconeogenisis. Re-feeding and the ensuing insulin response inhibits gluconeogenic gene expression by promoting the phosphorylation, cytoplasmic export and degradation of TORC2. TORC2 is phosphorylated by the kinase QIK which in turn is activated by phosphorylation at Ser358 by insulin-activated Akt2. Phosphorylated TORC2 is subsequently ubiquitinylated at Lys 628 and degraded by the 26S proteasome. TORC2 protein levels and activity are increased in diabetes owing to a block in TORC2 phosphorylation, implicating this pathway in the pathogenesis of diabetes. The CREB/TORC2 regulatory axis controls the normal pattern of germinal center (GC) B cell gene activation/repression that promotes B cell development and circumvents GC lymphomagenesis.

Product Notes

The TORC2 crtc2 (Catalog #AAA388574) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The TORC2 antibody (pAb) reacts with Human, Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's TORC2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunoprecipitation (IP), Western Blot (WB). Applications Validated: IP: 5-10ul per IP WB: 1:500-1:2,000 dilution. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the TORC2 crtc2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "TORC2, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
