Related Product Information for anti-TFII-I antibody
general transcription factor IIi (GTF2I), Homo sapiens. This gene encodes a phosphoprotein containing six characteristic repeat motifs. The encoded protein binds to the initiator element (Inr) and E-box element in promoters and functions as a regulator of transcription. This locus, along with several other neighboring genes, is deleted in Williams-Beuren syndrome. There are many closely related genes and pseudogenes for this gene on chromosome 7. This gene also has pseudogenes on chromosomes 9, 13, and 21. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding multiple isoforms have been observed. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2013]

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a multifunctional phosphoprotein with roles in transcription and signal transduction. It is deleted in Williams-Beuren syndrome, a multisystem developmental disorder caused by the deletion of contiguous genes at chromosome 7q11.23. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. Related pseudogenes have been identified on chromosomes 7, 13 and 21. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2009]

Uniprot Description

GTF2I: a multifunctional phosphoprotein with roles in transcription and signal transduction. Interacts with the basal transcription machinery by coordinating the formation of a multiprotein complex at the C-FOS promoter, and linking specific signal responsive activator complexes. Promotes the formation of stable high-order complexes of SRF and Phox1 and interacts cooperatively with Phox1 to promote serum-inducible transcription of a reporter gene driven by the C- FOS serum response element (SRE). Acts as a coregulator for USF1 by binding independently two promoter elements, a pyrimidine-rich initiator (Inr) and an upstream E-box. Its gene is known to contain at least 34 exons. Four splice variant isoforms have been described.

Protein type: Transcription, coactivator/corepressor; DNA-binding

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 7q11.23

Cellular Component: nucleoplasm; cell projection; membrane; cell soma; cytoplasm; nucleus

Molecular Function: protein binding; DNA binding; mitogen-activated protein kinase binding; transcription factor activity

Biological Process: transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter; transcription initiation from RNA polymerase II promoter; negative regulation of angiogenesis; regulation of transcription, DNA-dependent; transition between slow and fast fiber; reduction of cytosolic calcium ion concentration; signal transduction

Product Notes

The TFII-I gtf2i (Catalog #AAA9458652) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The TFII-I (Phospho Tyr248) Polyclonal Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's TFII-I can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), ELISA (EIA). WB: 1/500-1/2000 ELISA: 1/5000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the TFII-I gtf2i for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "TFII-I, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
