Immunohistochemistry (IHC)

(Immunohistochemical analysis of TERE1 staining in human colon cancer formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue section. The section was pre-treated using heat mediated antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6.0). The section was then incubated with the antibody at room temperature and detected using an HRP conjugated compact polymer system. DAB was used as the chromogen. The section was then counterstained with haematoxylin and mounted with DPX.)

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a protein thought to be involved in cholesterol and phospholipid metabolism. Mutations in this gene are associated with Schnyder crystalline corneal dystrophy. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2008]

Uniprot Description

UBIAD1: Prenyltransferase that mediates the formation of menaquinone-4 (MK-4), a vitamin K2 isoform present at high concentrations in the brain, kidney and pancreas. Mediates the conversion of phylloquinone (PK) into menaquinone-4 (MK-4), probably by cleaving the side chain of phylloquinone (PK) to release 2-methyl-1,4-naphthoquinone (menadione; K3) and then prenylating it with geranylgeranyl pyrophosphate (GGPP) to form MK-4. Defects in UBIAD1 are the cause of crystalline corneal dystrophy of Schnyder (SCCD). SCCD is a rare autosomal dominant disease characterized by progressive corneal opacification resulting from abnormal deposition of cholesterol and phospholipids. Belongs to the UbiA prenyltransferase family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The UBIAD1 ubiad1 (Catalog #AAA8245517) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-TERE1 Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's TERE1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). WB: 1/500 - 1/2000; IHC: 1/50 - 1/200. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the UBIAD1 ubiad1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "TERE1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
