NCBI Description

This gene is similar to a mouse gene that encodes a tudor domain protein. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been described but their full length sequences have not been determined. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

TDRD1: Plays a central role during spermatogenesis by participating in the repression transposable elements and prevent their mobilization, which is essential for the germline integrity. Acts via the piRNA metabolic process, which mediates the repression of transposable elements during meiosis by forming complexes composed of piRNAs and Piwi proteins and govern the methylation and subsequent repression of transposons. Required for the localization of Piwi proteins to the meiotic nuage. Involved in the piRNA metabolic process by ensuring the entry of correct transcripts into the normal piRNA pool and limiting the entry of cellular transcripts into the piRNA pathway. May act by allowing the recruitment of piRNA biogenesis or loading factors that ensure the correct entry of transcripts and piRNAs into Piwi proteins. Belongs to the TDRD1 family. 4 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Cancer Testis Antigen (CTA)

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 10q25.3

Cellular Component: cytoplasm

Molecular Function: metal ion binding; protein binding

Biological Process: DNA methylation during gametogenesis; germ cell development; meiotic cell cycle; multicellular organismal development; RNA-mediated gene silencing; spermatogenesis

Product Notes

The TDRD1 tdrd1 (Catalog #AAA6354644) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The TDRD1, CT (TDRD1, Tudor domain-containing protein 1, Cancer/testis antigen 41.1) (PE) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's TDRD1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), FLISA. WB: 1:100-500 FLISA: 1:1,000 Applications are based on unconjugated antibody. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the TDRD1 tdrd1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "TDRD1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
