Related Product Information for anti-MAPT antibody
Tau is a heterogeneous microtubuleassociated protein that promotes and stabilizes microtubule assembly, especially in axons. Six isoforms with different aminoterminal inserts and different numbers of tandem repeats near the carboxyterminus have been identified, and tau is hyperphosphorylated at approximately 25 sites by ERK, GSK3 and CDK5 (12). Phosphorylation decreases the ability of tau to bind to microtubules. Neurofibrillary tangles are a major hallmark of Alzheimer's disease and these tangles are bundles of paired helical filaments composed of hyperphosphorylated tau. In particular, phosphorylation of Ser396 by GSK3 or CDK5 destabilizes microtubules in Alzheimer's disease. Furthermore, inclusions of tau are found in a number of other neurodegenerative diseases, collectively known as tauopathies (1,3).

Product Notes

The MAPT mapt (Catalog #AAA125717) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The MAPT Polyclonal Antibody reacts with Human, mouse, rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Tau can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunocytochemistry (ICC), Flow Cytometry (FC/FACS). Western Blot (WB): 1:500-1:2000 Immunocytochemistry (ICC): 1:50-1:200 Immunoprecipitation (IP): 1:50-1:100. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the MAPT mapt for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Tau, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
