NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
The protein encoded by this gene is similar to the protein transgelin, which is one of the earliest markers of differentiated smooth muscle. The specific function of this protein has not yet been determined, although it is thought to be a tumor suppressor. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2013]
Uniprot Description
TAGLN2: a cytoskeletal protein of the calponin family. One of the earliest markers of differentiated smooth muscle. Expressed in the smooth, cardiac, and skeletal muscle cells during early embryogenesis. Becomes restricted to vascular and visceral smooth muscle cells in late fetal development and adulthood. Its expression is abolished by activated Ras. Ras-dependent and Ras-independent mechanisms can cause the down-regulation of transgelin in breast and colon cancer cells lines and tumor samples.
Protein type: Motility/polarity/chemotaxis; Cytoskeletal
Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 1q21-q25
Cellular Component: vesicle
Molecular Function: protein binding
Biological Process: epithelial cell differentiation

Product Notes
The TAGLN2 tagln2 (Catalog #AAA7046544) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The TAGLN2 Antibody reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's TAGLN2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the TAGLN2 tagln2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "TAGLN2, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
