syntaxin or t-SNARE (target-SNAP receptor) family. These proteins
are found on cell membranes and serve as the targets for V-SNARES
(vesicle-SNAP receptors) permitting specific synaptic vesicle
docking and fusion. A microdeletion in the region of chromosome 20
where this gene is located has been associated with
pseudohypoparathyroidism type Ib. Multiple transcript variants
encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.

NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene encodes a protein that is a member of the syntaxin or t-SNARE (target-SNAP receptor) family. These proteins are found on cell membranes and serve as the targets for V-SNARES (vesicle-SNAP receptors) permitting specific synaptic vesicle docking and fusion. A microdeletion in the region of chromosome 20 where this gene is located has been associated with pseudohypoparathyroidism type Ib. Multiple transcript variants have been found for this gene. Read-through transcription also exists between this gene and the neighboring downstream aminopeptidase-like 1 (NPEPL1) gene. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2011]
Uniprot Description
STX16: SNARE involved in vesicular transport from the late endosomes to the trans-Golgi network. Genetic variations in STX16 may be a cause of pseudohypoparathyroidism type 1B (PHP1B). Pseudohypoparathyroidism refers to a heterogeneous group of disorders characterized by resistance to parathyroid hormone (PTH). PHP1B is characterized by PTH-resistant hypocalcemia and hyperphosphatemia. Patients affected with PHP1B lack developmental defects characteristic of Albright hereditary osteodystrophy, and typically show no other endocrine abnormalities besides resistance to PTH. In some cases microdeletions involving STX16 appear to cause loss of methylation at exon A/B of the GNAS gene, resulting in PHP1B. Belongs to the syntaxin family. 5 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes
The STX16 stx16 (Catalog #AAA9206631) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The immunogen sequence is 247-274. The STX16 Antibody (C-term) reacts with Human (Predicted Reactivity: Mouse) and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's STX16 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), ELISA (EIA), Flow Cytometry (FC/FACS). WB~~1:1000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the STX16 stx16 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "STX16, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
