Related Product Information for anti-STIM2 antibody
This gene is a member of the stromal interaction molecule (STIM) family and likely arose, with related family member STIM1, from a common ancestral gene. It encodes a type 1 transmembrane protein whose function is currently unknown, but is a likely adhesion molecule with a role in early hematopoiesis. Alternative translation initiation from an AUG and a non-AUG (UUG) start site results in the production of two different isoforms.

NCBI Description

This gene is a member of the stromal interaction molecule (STIM) family and likely arose, along with related family member STIM1, from a common ancestral gene. The encoded protein functions to regulate calcium concentrations in the cytosol and endoplasmic reticulum, and is involved in the activation of plasma membrane Orai Ca(2+) entry channels. This gene initiates translation from a non-AUG (UUG) start site. A signal peptide is cleaved from the resulting protein. Multiple transcript variants result from alternative splicing. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2009]

Uniprot Description

Function: Plays a role in mediating store-operated Ca2+ entry (SOCE), a Ca2+ influx following depletion of intracellular Ca2+ stores. Functions as a highly sensitive Ca2+ sensor in the endoplasmic reticulum which activates both store-operated and store-independent Ca2+-influx. Regulates basal cytosolic and endoplasmic reticulum Ca2+ concentrations. Upon mild variations of the endoplasmic reticulum Ca2+ concentration, translocates from the endoplasmic reticulum to the plasma membrane where it probably activates the Ca2+ release-activated Ca2+ (CRAC) channels ORAI1, ORAI2 and ORAI3. May inhibit STIM1-mediated Ca2+ influx. Ref.6 Ref.7 Ref.8 Ref.10 Ref.14 Ref.15

Subunit structure: Oligomer with STIM1. Interacts with ORAI1. Ref.1 Ref.10 Ref.12

Subcellular location: Endoplasmic reticulum membrane; Single-pass type I membrane protein. Note: Dynamically translocates from a uniform endoplasmic reticulum distribution to punctual endoplasmic reticulum-plasma membrane junctions in response to decrease in endoplasmic reticulum Ca2+ concentration. Ref.7 Ref.8 Ref.10

Tissue specificity: Expressed in all tissues and tumor cell lines examined. Ref.1

Post-translational modification: Glycosylated. Ref.1Phosphorylated predominantly on Ser residues. Ref.1

Sequence similarities: Contains 1 EF-hand domain.Contains 1 SAM (sterile alpha motif) domain.

Sequence caution: The sequence BAA96006.1 differs from that shown. Reason: Unusual initiator. The initiator methionine is coded by a non-canonical CTG leucine codon. The sequence BAB14545.1 differs from that shown. Reason: Erroneous initiation. Translation N-terminally extended. The sequence BAB14545.1 differs from that shown. Reason: Probable cloning artifact. The sequence CAB66512.2 differs from that shown. Reason: Unusual initiator. The initiator methionine is coded by a non-canonical CTG leucine codon.

Product Notes

The STIM2 stim2 (Catalog #AAA647625) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The STIM2, CT (Stromal Interaction Molecule 2, FLJ39527, KIAA1482) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's STIM2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). Suitable for use in Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. Dilution: Western Blot: 0.5-1ug/ml Immunohistochemistry (Formalin fixed paraffin embedded): 5ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the STIM2 stim2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "STIM2, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
