STIM2; Polyclonal Antibody; RABBIT ANTI STIM2; anti-STIM2 antibody
Ordering
For Research Use Only!
Host
Rabbit
Reactivity
Mouse, Rat
Clonality
Polyclonal
Isotype
IgG
Specificity
This item recognises an internal region of stromal interaction molecule-2 (STIM2), a ubiquitously expressed type I membrane protein, of which at least three isoforms have been identified.

In T-lymphocytes and other haematopoietic cells, the mechanism for increasing intracellular Ca2+, following antigen mediated T-cell activation, is through the store-operated Ca2+release-activated Ca2+ (CRAC) channels. STIM1 is reported to activate CRAC channels upon Ca2+depletion. Whereas, STIM2 acts to inhibit the STIM1-mediated store-operated Ca2+entry, and forms complexes with STIM1, suggesting that these molecules may play a co-ordinated role in controlling Ca2+entry.

Immunogen
A 17 amino acid peptide located near the centre of human STIM2.
Buffer Solution
Antiserum Preparation
Antisera to human STIM2 were raised by repeated immunisation of rabbits with highly purified antigen. Purified IgG was prepared by affinity chromatography.
Target Species
Human
Preparation and Storage
Store at 4 degree C or at -20 degree C if preferred. This product should be stored undiluted. Storage in frost free freezers is not recommended. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.
Shelf Life: 18 months from date of despatch.

NCBI Description

This gene is a member of the stromal interaction molecule (STIM) family and likely arose, along with related family member STIM1, from a common ancestral gene. The encoded protein functions to regulate calcium concentrations in the cytosol and endoplasmic reticulum, and is involved in the activation of plasma membrane Orai Ca(2+) entry channels. This gene initiates translation from a non-AUG (UUG) start site. A signal peptide is cleaved from the resulting protein. Multiple transcript variants result from alternative splicing. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2009]

Uniprot Description

STIM2: Plays a role in mediating store-operated Ca(2+) entry (SOCE), a Ca(2+) influx following depletion of intracellular Ca(2+) stores. Functions as a highly sensitive Ca(2+) sensor in the endoplasmic reticulum which activates both store-operated and store-independent Ca(2+)-influx. Regulates basal cytosolic and endoplasmic reticulum Ca(2+) concentrations. Upon mild variations of the endoplasmic reticulum Ca(2+) concentration, translocates from the endoplasmic reticulum to the plasma membrane where it probably activates the Ca(2+) release-activated Ca(2+) (CRAC) channels ORAI1, ORAI2 and ORAI3. May inhibit STIM1-mediated Ca(2+) influx. Oligomer with STIM1. Interacts with ORAI1. Expressed in all tissues and tumor cell lines examined.

Product Notes

The STIM2 stim2 (Catalog #AAA223098) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The RABBIT ANTI STIM2 reacts with Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's STIM2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistology Paraffin*, Western Blot (WB). Western Blot: This item detects a band of approximately 105kDa in A20 cell lysates Immunohistology - Paraffin: Application Note: This product requires antigen retrieval using heat treatment prior to staining of paraffin sections. Sodium citrate buffer pH 6.0 is recommended for this purpose. Western Blotting: Minimum Dilution: 0.5; Maximum Dilution: 1.0ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the STIM2 stim2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "STIM2, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
