(MBS9604294 at 1/100 staining Human liver cancer tissue by IHC-P. The sample was formaldehyde fixed and a heat mediated antigen retrieval step in citrate buffer was performed. The sample was then blocked and incubated with the antibody for 1.5 hours at 22 degree C. An HRP conjugated goat anti-rabbit antibody was used as the secondary.)

Subunit Structure: Heterodimer with SSTR2. Heterodimerization with SSTR2 increases cell growth inhibition activity of SSTR2.
Post-translational Modifications: Palmitoylated by ZDHHC5, but not ZDHHC3, nor ZDHHC8. Palmitoylation creates an additional intracellular loop which is thought to be important for efficient coupling to G-proteins and may target the protein to lipid rafts.

Somatostatin and its related peptide cortistatin exert multiple biological actions on normal and tumoral tissue targets by interacting with somatostatin receptors (SSTRs). The protein encoded by this gene is one of the SSTRs, which is a multi-pass membrane protein and belongs to the G-protein coupled receptor 1 family. The activity of this receptor is mediated by G proteins which inhibit adenylyl cyclase, and different regions of this receptor molecule are required for the activation of different signaling pathways. A mutation in this gene results in somatostatin analog resistance. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been identified in this gene.[provided by RefSeq, Feb 2010]
