Goat SON Polyclonal Antibody | anti-SON antibody
Goat anti-SON Antibody
Western Blot: Preliminary experiments gave an approx 35kDa band in Human, Mouse and Rat Heart lysates after 0.3ug/ml antibody staining. Please note that currently we cannot find an explanation in the literature for the band we observe given the calculated size of 250kDa according to NP_115571.1. The 35kDa band was successfully blocked by incubation with the immunizing peptide.
NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene encodes a protein that contains multiple simple repeats. The encoded protein binds RNA and promotes pre-mRNA splicing, particularly of transcripts with poor splice sites. The protein also recognizes a specific DNA sequence found in the human hepatitis B virus (HBV) and represses HBV core promoter activity. There is a pseudogene for this gene on chromosome 1. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2013]
Uniprot Description
SON: RNA-binding protein that acts as a mRNA splicing cofactor by promoting efficient splicing of transcripts that posses weak splice sites. Specifically promotes splicing of many cell-cycle and DNA-repair transcripts that posses weak splice sites, such as TUBG1, KATNB1, TUBGCP2, AURKB, PCNT, AKT1, RAD23A, and FANCG. Probably acts by facilitating the interaction between Serine/arginine-rich proteins such as SRSF2 and the RNA polymerase II. Also binds to DNA; binds to the consensus DNA sequence: 5'- GA[GT]AN[CG][AG]CC-3'. May indirectly repress hepatitis B virus (HBV) core promoter activity and transcription of HBV genes and production of HBV virions. 10 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes
The SON son (Catalog #AAA422618) is an Antibody produced from Goat and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Goat anti-SON Antibody reacts with Expected from sequence similarity: Human, Mouse, Rat, Dog, Cow and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's SON can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Peptide ELISA (EIA). Peptide ELISA: Antibody detection limit dilution 1: 32000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SON son for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. The amino acid sequence is listed below: KSRCVSVQTD PTD. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "SON, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
