Related Product Information for anti-Smad3 antibody
Smad proteins, the mammalian homologs of the Drosophila mothers against decapentaplegic (Mad), have been implicated as downstream effectors of GFbeta/BMP signaling. Smad1 (also designated Madr1 or JV4-1) and Smad5 are effectors of BMP-2 and BMP-4 function, while Smad2 (also designated Madr2 or JV18-1) and Smad3 are involved in TGFbeta and activin-mediated growth modulation. Smad4 (also designated DPC4) has been shown to mediate all of the above activities through interaction with various Smad family members. Smad6 and Smad7 regulate the response to activin/TGFbeta signaling by interfering with TGFbeta-mediated phosphorylation of other Smad proteins.

NCBI Description

The SMAD family of proteins are a group of intracellular signal transducer proteins similar to the gene products of the Drosophila gene 'mothers against decapentaplegic' (Mad) and the C. elegans gene Sma. The SMAD3 protein functions in the transforming growth factor-beta signaling pathway, and transmits signals from the cell surface to the nucleus, regulating gene activity and cell proliferation. It also functions as a tumor suppressor. Mutations in this gene are associated with aneurysms-osteoarthritis syndrome and Loeys-Dietz Syndrome 3. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2019]

Uniprot Description

SMAD3: transcription factor phosphorylated and activated by TGF-beta-type receptors. A receptor-regulated Smad (R-smad). Binds directly to consensus DNA-binding elements in the promoters of target genes. In mouse required for establishemnt of the mucosal immune response and proper development of skeleton.

Product Notes

The Smad3 smad3 (Catalog #AAA3004788) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Smad3 (Phospho-S425) Polyclonal Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Smad3 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry (IHC). IHC: 1:50-1:200. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the Smad3 smad3 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Smad3, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
