Uniprot Description

SLAM: a type I membrane protein present on the surface of B cells, T cells and CD83+ dendritic cells. A high-affinity self-ligand considered to be important in bidirectional T <-> B-cell stimulation. SLAM-induced signal-transduction events in T lymphocytes are different from those in B cells. Two modes of SLAM signaling are likely to exist: one in which the inhibitor SH2D1A (SAP) acts as a negative regulator and another in which protein-tyrosine phosphatase 2C (SHP-2)-dependent signal transduction operates. Its cytoplasmic domain interacts with SAP through part of its SH2 domain, and with SHP-2. Three alternatively spliced isoforms have been described.

Protein type: Membrane protein, integral; Receptor, misc.

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 1q23.3

Cellular Component: cell surface; extracellular exosome; integral component of membrane; plasma membrane

Molecular Function: antigen binding; identical protein binding; protein binding; transmembrane receptor activity; viral receptor activity

Biological Process: adaptive immune response; cell adhesion; entry of virus into host cell; innate immune response; lymphocyte activation; myeloid dendritic cell activation involved in immune response; negative regulation of CD40 signaling pathway; negative regulation of interleukin-12 production; negative regulation of interleukin-6 production; negative regulation of tumor necrosis factor production; phagocytosis; positive regulation of cell proliferation; positive regulation of ERK1 and ERK2 cascade; positive regulation of JNK cascade; signal transduction

It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Signaling Lymphocytic Activation Molecule Family, Member 1 (SLAMF1), Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
