Related Product Information for anti-IBSP antibody
Bone sialoprotein (BSP) is one of the major noncollagenous proteins in the extracellular matrix of bone. It is a phosphorylated glycoprotein with an approximate molecular weight of 70-80kD. The protein has been found in osteoblasts and osteocytes. BSP is synthesized and secreted by bone-, dentin- and cementum-forming cells. Diseases concerning the bone turnover, pathological bone alterations as well as the rapid increase of osteoporosis make it necessary to establish new markers. Bone sialoprotein is discussed as a potential serum marker for monitoring bone remodelling.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a major structural protein of the bone matrix. It constitutes approximately 12% of the noncollagenous proteins in human bone and is synthesized by skeletal-associated cell types, including hypertrophic chondrocytes, osteoblasts, osteocytes, and osteoclasts. The only extraskeletal site of its synthesis is the trophoblast. This protein binds to calcium and hydroxyapatite via its acidic amino acid clusters, and mediates cell attachment through an RGD sequence that recognizes the vitronectin receptor. [provided by RefSeq]

Uniprot Description

Sialoprotein-2: Binds tightly to hydroxyapatite. Appears to form an integral part of the mineralized matrix. Probably important to cell-matrix interaction. Promotes Arg-Gly-Asp-dependent cell attachment.

Protein type: Cell adhesion; Secreted, signal peptide; Motility/polarity/chemotaxis; Secreted

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 4q21.1

Cellular Component: extracellular space; membrane; extracellular region

Biological Process: osteoblast differentiation; extracellular matrix organization and biogenesis; biomineral formation; cell adhesion

Product Notes

The IBSP ibsp (Catalog #AAA629727) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Sialoprotein, Bone, aa294-295 (BSP, Bone Sialoprotein 2, BSP2, Cell-binding Sialoprotein, Integrin-binding Sialoprotein) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Sialoprotein, Bone, aa294-295 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA). Suitable for use in ELISA. Dilution: ELISA: 1:1000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the IBSP ibsp for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Sialoprotein, Bone, aa294-295, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
