Description: Rabbit IgG polyclonal antibody for SENP1 detection. Tested with WB, FCM, Direct ELISA in Human.

Background: Sentrin-specific protease 1 is a protein that in human is encoded by the SENP1 gene. This gene is mapped to 12q13.11. This gene encodes a cysteine protease that specifically targets members of the small ubiquitin-like modifier (SUMO) protein family. This protease regulates SUMO pathways by deconjugating sumoylated proteins. This protease also functions to process the precursor SUMO proteins into their mature form. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a cysteine protease that specifically targets members of the small ubiquitin-like modifier (SUMO) protein family. This protease regulates SUMO pathways by deconjugating sumoylated proteins. This protease also functions to process the precursor SUMO proteins into their mature form. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Jun 2012]

Uniprot Description

SENP1: Protease that catalyzes two essential functions in the SUMO pathway: processing of full-length SUMO1, SUMO2 and SUMO3 to their mature forms and deconjugation of SUMO1, SUMO2 and SUMO3 from targeted proteins. Deconjugates SUMO1 from HIPK2. Deconjugates SUMO1 from HDAC1, which decreases its transcriptional repression activity. Belongs to the peptidase C48 family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Nuclear receptor co-regulator; Protease; EC 3.4.22.68

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 12q13.1

Cellular Component: nucleoplasm; nuclear membrane; focal adhesion; cytoplasm; nucleus

Molecular Function: protein binding; endopeptidase activity; SUMO-specific protease activity

Biological Process: caspase activation; protein desumoylation; cellular protein metabolic process; protein sumoylation; positive regulation of transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter; proteolysis; post-translational protein modification; negative regulation of proteasomal ubiquitin-dependent protein catabolic process

Product Notes

The SENP1 senp1 (Catalog #AAA1753025) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-SENP1 Antibody reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's SENP1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Flow Cytometry (FC/FACS), Direct ELISA (EIA). WB: 0.25-0.5ug/ml (Human) FC/FACS: 1-3ug/1x106 cells (Human) Direct ELISA: 0.1-0.5ug/ml (Human) Tested Species: In-house tested species with positive results. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SENP1 senp1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "SENP1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
