NCBI Description

This gene encodes a protein with similarity to the S. cerevisiae mutagenesis protein Rev1. The Rev1 proteins contain a BRCT domain, which is important in protein-protein interactions. A suggested role for the human Rev1-like protein is as a scaffold that recruits DNA polymerases involved in translesion synthesis (TLS) of damaged DNA. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2016]

Uniprot Description

REV1L: Deoxycytidyl transferase involved in DNA repair. Transfers a dCMP residue from dCTP to the 3'-end of a DNA primer in a template-dependent reaction. May assist in the first step in the bypass of abasic lesions by the insertion of a nucleotide opposite the lesion. Required for normal induction of mutations by physical and chemical agents. Belongs to the DNA polymerase type-Y family. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: DNA repair, damage; EC 2.7.7.-; Transferase

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 2q11.1-q11.2

Cellular Component: nucleoplasm

Molecular Function: deoxycytidyl transferase activity; protein binding

Biological Process: bypass DNA synthesis; DNA replication; error-prone postreplication DNA repair; response to UV

Product Notes

The REV1 rev1 (Catalog #AAA9418243) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The REV1 Antibody reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's REV1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). Western Blot: 1:500-1:2000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the REV1 rev1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "REV1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
