NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene interacts with calcineurin A and inhibits calcineurin-dependent signaling pathways, possibly affecting central nervous system development. This gene is located in the minimal candidate region for the Down syndrome phenotype, and is overexpressed in the brain of Down syndrome fetuses. Chronic overexpression of this gene may lead to neurofibrillary tangles such as those associated with Alzheimer disease. Three transcript variants encoding three different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

RCAN1: Inhibits calcineurin-dependent transcriptional responses by binding to the catalytic domain of calcineurin A. Could play a role during central nervous system development. Interacts with RAF1. By calcium. Highly expressed heart, brain and skeletal muscle. Also expressed in all other tissues. Belongs to the RCAN family. 4 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The RCAN1 rcan1 (Catalog #AAA6435251) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The RCAN1 (Regulator of Calcineurin 1, Calcipressin 1, CSP1, DSC1, RCN1, DSCR1, MCIP1, ADAPT78) (PE) reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's RCAN1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunofluorescence (IF), Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). IF: 1:50-1:200 WB: 1:500-1:2000 IHC: 1:50-1:200 Applications are based on unconjugated antibody. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the RCAN1 rcan1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "RCAN1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
