Related Product Information for anti-RAD18 antibody
RAD18, a RING-type ubiquitin ligase (E3) that plays an essential role in post-replication repair, possesses distinct domains named RING, UBZ, SAP and the RAD6-binding domain (R6BD) and forms a dimer. RAD18, a DNA damage-activated E3 ubiquitin ligase, is known to play a critical role in DNA damage repair in cancer cells. The ubiquitin ligase RAD18 is involved in post replication repair pathways via its recruitment to stalled replication forks, and its role in the ubiquitylation of proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA).RAD18 is an ubiquitin ligase involved in replicative damage bypass and DNA double-strand break (DSB) repair processes. The RAD18 gene, located on the human chromosome 3p24-p25, plays a crucial role in post-replication repair (PRR) in various organisms from yeast to humans. In the human RAD18 gene, one coding single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) at codon 302, encoding either arginine (Arg, CGA) or glutamine (Gln, CAA), was reported.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is highly similar to S. cerevisiae DNA damage repair protein Rad18. Yeast Rad18 functions through its interaction with Rad6, which is an ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme required for post-replication repair of damaged DNA. Similar to its yeast counterpart, this protein is able to interact with the human homolog of yeast Rad6 protein through a conserved ring-finger motif. Mutation of this motif results in defective replication of UV-damaged DNA and hypersensitivity to multiple mutagens. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

RAD18: a structural maintenance of chromosomes (SMC) protein involved in postreplication repair of UV-damaged DNA. Has ssDNA binding activity. Interacts with Rad6 through a conserved ring-finger motif. Rad6 is an ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme required for post-replication repair of damaged DNA. Postreplication repair functions in gap-filling of a daughter strand on replication of damaged DNA.

Product Notes

The RAD18 rad18 (Catalog #AAA8100924) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-RAD18 Antibody, Rabbit Polyclonal reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's RAD18 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry-Paraffin (IHC-P), Immunocytochemistry (ICC), Immunofluorescence (IF). IHC-P: 1:500-1:2000 ICC/IF: 1:300-1:10,000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the RAD18 rad18 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "RAD18, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
