Related Product Information for anti-RAB5A antibody
Description: Rabbit IgG polyclonal antibody for Ras-related protein Rab-5A(RAB5A) detection. Tested with WB, IHC-P in Human, Mouse, Rat.
Background: RAB5A(Ras-associated protein RAB5A), also called RAB5, is a protein that in humans is encoded by the RAB5A gene. RAB5 is a rate-limiting component of the machinery regulating the kinetics of membrane traffic in the early endocytic pathway. The RAB5A gene is mapped on 3p24.3. Tuberin functions as a RAB5GAP in vivo to negatively regulate RAB5-GTP activity in endocytosis. Ectopically expressed ALS2 localized with RAB5 and early endosome antigen-1 onto early endosomal compartments and stimulated the enlargement of endosomes in cultured cortical neurons. RAB5 is indispensable for a form of receptor tyrosine kinase-induced actin remodeling called circular ruffling. RAB5 signals to the actin cytoskeleton through RNTRE, a RAB5-specific GTPase-activating protein(GAP). RAB5 activity on phagosome membranes began to increase on disassembly of the actin coat encapsulating phagosomes. RAB5 activation was either continuous or repetitive for up to 10 minutes, but it ended before the collapse of engulfed apoptotic cells. Expression of a dominant-negative mutant of RAB5 delayed this collapse of apoptotic thymocytes, showing a role for RAB5 in phagosome maturation.

Uniprot Description

RAB5A: Required for the fusion of plasma membranes and early endosomes. Contributes to the regulation of filopodia extension. Binds EEA1. Interacts with RIN1 and GAPVD1, which regulate its pathway, probably by acting as a GEF. Interacts with ALS2CL, RABEP1, SUN2, ZFYVE20 and RUFY1. Interacts with SGSM1 and SGSM3. Interacts with PIK3CB. Regulated by guanine nucleotide exchange factors (GEFs) which promote the exchange of bound GDP for free GTP. Belongs to the small GTPase superfamily. Rab family.

Product Notes

The RAB5A rab5a (Catalog #AAA175653) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-Rab5 antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Rab5 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Paraffin. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the RAB5A rab5a for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Rab5, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
