This is a rabbit polyclonal antibody against PRR5. It was validated on Western Blot using a cell lysate as a positive control.

Target Description: This gene encodes a protein with a proline-rich domain. This gene is located in a region of chromosome 22 reported to contain a tumor suppressor gene that may be involved in breast and colorectal tumorigenesis. The protein is a component of the mammalian target of rapamycin complex 2 (mTORC2), and it regulates platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) receptor beta expression and PDGF signaling to Akt and S6K1. Alternative splicing and the use of alternative promoters results in transcripts encoding different isoforms. Read-through transcripts from this gene into the downstream Rho GTPase activating protein 8 (ARHGAP8) gene also exist, which led to the original description of PRR5 and ARHGAP8 being a single gene.

Uniprot Description

PROTOR1: Subunit of mTORC2, which regulates cell growth and survival in response to hormonal signals. mTORC2 is activated by growth factors, but, in contrast to mTORC1, seems to be nutrient- insensitive. mTORC2 seems to function upstream of Rho GTPases to regulate the actin cytoskeleton, probably by activating one or more Rho-type guanine nucleotide exchange factors. mTORC2 promotes the serum-induced formation of stress-fibers or F-actin. mTORC2 plays a critical role in AKT1 'Ser-473' phosphorylation, which may facilitate the phosphorylation of the activation loop of AKT1 on 'Thr-308' by PDK1 which is a prerequisite for full activation. mTORC2 regulates the phosphorylation of SGK1 at 'Ser-422'. mTORC2 also modulates the phosphorylation of PRKCA on 'Ser-657'. PRR5 plays an important role in regulation of PDGFRB expression and in modulation of platelet-derived growth factor signaling. May act as a tumor suppressor in breast cancer. Belongs to the PROTOR family. 4 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Tumor suppressor

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 22q13

Cellular Component: TORC2 complex

Biological Process: positive regulation of phosphoinositide 3-kinase cascade; positive regulation of protein amino acid phosphorylation; cell cycle

Product Notes

The PRR5 prr5 (Catalog #AAA3212976) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The PRR5 Antibody - C-terminal region reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's PRR5 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PRR5 prr5 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. The amino acid sequence is listed below: Synthetic peptide located within the following region: SPAPHSGPCP SRLYPTTQPP EQGLDPTRSS LPRSSPENLV DQILESVDSD. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "PRR5, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
