Related Product Information for anti-PRPH antibody
Peripherin is a type III intermediate filament protein that is expressed in peripheral and some central nervous system (CNS) neurons. Peripherin activation is known to be induced by leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF). LIF activates Peripherin by inducing members of STAT transcription factor family to bind to a specific promoter element in the Peripherin gene. IL-6 is also known to induce Peripherin expression. Although it is not essential for neurite formation, peripherin is necessary for cellular intermediate filament network formation. Peripherin, unlike most intermediate filament proteins, has been reported to be modified by tyrosine phosphorylation

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a cytoskeletal protein found in neurons of the peripheral nervous system. The encoded protein is a type III intermediate filament protein with homology to other cytoskeletal proteins such as desmin, and is a different protein that the peripherin found in photoreceptors. Mutations in this gene have been associated with susceptibility to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

peripherin: Class-III neuronal intermediate filament protein. Belongs to the intermediate filament family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The PRPH prph (Catalog #AAA3009952) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The PRPH Polyclonal Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's PRPH can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). WB: 1:500-1:2000 IHC: 1:20-1:200. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PRPH prph for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "PRPH, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
