NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
The protein encoded by this gene is a transcriptional repressor and a member of the PRDM family. Family members contain a PR domain and multiple zinc-finger domains. The encoded protein is involved in regulation of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMC) contractile proteins. Mutations in this gene result in patent ductus arteriosus 3 (PDA3). Uniprot Description
PRDM6: Putative histone methyltransferase that acts as a transcriptional repressor of smooth muscle gene expression. Promotes the transition from differentiated to proliferative smooth muscle by suppressing differentiation and maintaining the proliferative potential of vascular smooth muscle cells. Also plays a role in endothelial cells by inhibiting endothelial cell proliferation, survival and differentiation. It is unclear whether it has histone methyltransferase activity in vivo. According to some authors, it does not act as a histone methyltransferase by itself and represses transcription by recruiting EHMT2/G9a. According to others, it possesses histone methyltransferase activity when associated with other proteins and specifically methylates 'Lys-20' of histone H4 in vitro. 'Lys-20' methylation represents a specific tag for epigenetic transcriptional repression. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes
The PRDM6 prdm6 (Catalog #AAA6337092) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The PRDM6, NT (PRDM6, PFM3, Putative histone-lysine N-methyltransferase PRDM6, PR domain zinc finger protein 6, PR domain-containing protein 6) (MaxLight 750) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's PRDM6 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), FLISA. WB: 1:100-500 FLISA: 1:1,000 Applications are based on unconjugated antibody. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PRDM6 prdm6 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "PRDM6, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
