Related Product Information for anti-PPIA antibody
Cyclophilins are a highly conserved family of peptidylprolyl cis-trans-isomerases (PPIA) that are targets of the immunosuppressant drug cyclosporin A (CsA) (1, 2). The complex of cyclophilin and CsA can bind to and inhibit calcineurin which leads to inhibition of the transcription factor NFAT and decreased production of cytokines (3, 4). As isomerases, cyclophilins have been proposed to aid in protein folding. Cyclophilin A can bind to the p55 Gag protein of HIV and appears necessary for HIV infection (5, 6). There is also some evidence that cyclophilins have nuclease activity and play a role in apoptosis (7).

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the peptidyl-prolyl cis-trans isomerase (PPIase) family. PPIases catalyze the cis-trans isomerization of proline imidic peptide bonds in oligopeptides and accelerate the folding of proteins. The encoded protein is a cyclosporin binding-protein and may play a role in cyclosporin A-mediated immunosuppression. The protein can also interact with several HIV proteins, including p55 gag, Vpr, and capsid protein, and has been shown to be necessary for the formation of infectious HIV virions. Multiple pseudogenes that map to different chromosomes have been reported. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

PPIA: PPIases accelerate the folding of proteins. It catalyzes the cis-trans isomerization of proline imidic peptide bonds in oligopeptides. Interacts with HIV-1 Capsid protein. Binds cyclosporin A (CsA). CsA mediates some of its effects via an inhibitory action on PPIase. Belongs to the cyclophilin-type PPIase family. PPIase A subfamily.

Protein type: RNA-binding; Cyclophilin; Isomerase; EC 5.2.1.8

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 7p13

Cellular Component: extracellular space; focal adhesion; membrane; extracellular region; cytosol; nucleus

Molecular Function: protein binding; peptidyl-prolyl cis-trans isomerase activity; unfolded protein binding; virion binding; peptide binding

Biological Process: release of virus from host; platelet activation; uncoating of virus; protein peptidyl-prolyl isomerization; positive regulation of viral genome replication; viral reproduction; protein folding; RNA-dependent DNA replication; virus assembly; viral infectious cycle; platelet degranulation; positive regulation of protein secretion; entry into host cell; blood coagulation; regulation of viral genome replication; leukocyte migration

Product Notes

The PPIA ppia (Catalog #AAA2523246) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The PPIA Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's PPIA can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PPIA ppia for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "PPIA, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
