NCBI Description
This gene encodes a member of the POU domain family of transcription factors. POU domain transcription factors bind to a specific octamer DNA motif and regulate cell type-specific differentiation pathways. The encoded protein is primarily expressed in the epidermis, and plays a critical role in keratinocyte proliferation and differentiation. The encoded protein is also a candidate tumor suppressor protein, and aberrant promoter methylation of this gene may play a role in cervical cancer. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding multiple isoforms have been observed for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2011]
Uniprot Description
Oct11: Transcription factor that binds to the octamer motif (5'-ATTTGCAT-3'). Regulated the expression of a number of genes such as SPRR2A or placental lactogen. Belongs to the POU transcription factor family. Class- 2 subfamily. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.
Protein type: DNA-binding; Transcription factor
Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 11q23.3
Cellular Component: nucleoplasm; transcription factor complex; cytoplasm; nucleus
Molecular Function: protein dimerization activity; protein binding; sequence-specific DNA binding
Biological Process: keratinocyte differentiation; regulation of transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter; epidermis development; transcription, DNA-dependent; wound healing; positive regulation of transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter

AAA Biotech's POU2F3 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry-paraffin (IHC-p), Immunofluorescence (IF). POU2F3 antibody can be used for detection of POU2F3 by Western blot at 1 - 2 ug/ml. Antibody can also be used for Immunohistochemistry at 5 ug/mL. For Immunoflorescence start at 20 ug/mL. Antibody validated: Western Blot in human samples; Immunohistochemistry in rat samples and Immunofluorescence in rat samples. All other applications and species not yet tested Optimal dilutions for each application to be determined by the researcher. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the POU2F3 pou2f3 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "POU2F3, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
