Related Product Information for anti-PLAC3 antibody
PLAC3 (placenta-specific protein 3), also known as PAPP-A2, is a metalloproteinase that cleaves the insulin-like growth factor-binding protein (IGFBP)-5 in a IGF-independent fashion. It has been suggested that the cleavage of IGFBP-5 and to a lesser extent IGFBP-3 produced in the maternal decidua promotes feto-placental growth. Recent studies have shown elevated levels of PLAC3 in hypertensive disorders of pregnancy including preeclampsia and HELLP (hemolysis, elevated liver enzymes, and low platelets) syndrome.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the pappalysin family of metzincin metalloproteinases. The encoded protein cleaves insulin-like growth factor-binding protein 5 and is thought to be a local regulator of insulin-like growth factor (IGF) bioavailability. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2010]

Uniprot Description

PAPPA2: Metalloproteinase which specifically cleaves IGFBP-5. Shows limited proteolysis toward IGFBP-3. Belongs to the peptidase M43B family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: EC 3.4.24.-; Protease; Secreted, signal peptide; Secreted

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 1q25.2

Cellular Component: membrane; extracellular region; intracellular

Molecular Function: metallopeptidase activity; zinc ion binding

Biological Process: cellular protein metabolic process; regulation of cell growth; proteolysis; cell differentiation

Product Notes

The PLAC3 pappa2 (Catalog #AAA9401933) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The PLAC3 Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's PLAC3 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB), Immunocytochemistry (ICC). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PLAC3 pappa2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "PLAC3, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
