Related Product Information for anti-PLA2G4B antibody
PLA2G4B transcribes naturally-occurring mRNAs that are co-transcribed products of the neighboring JMJD7 and PLA2G4B genes. Incompletely processed read-through transcripts from these two loci are abundantly expressed in most tissues, but the function of the predicted protein product has not yet been determined.

Protein Information:

Name: PLA2G4B

Function:
Calcium-dependent phospholipase A2 that selectively hydrolyzes glycerophospholipids in the sn-2 position with a preference for arachidonoyl phospholipids. Has a much weaker activity than PLA2G4A. Isoform 3 has calcium-dependent activity against palmitoyl-arachidonyl-phosphatidylethanolamine and low level lysophospholipase activity but no activity against phosphatidylcholine. Isoform 5 does have activity against phosphatidylcholine.

Cellular Location: Cytoplasm, cytosol

Tissue Location: Widely expressed. Expressed at higher level in brain, heart, liver, cerebellum and pancreas. Isoform 3 is widely expressed.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the cytosolic phospholipase A2 protein family. Phospholipase A2 enzymes hydrolyze the sn-2 bond of phospholipids, releasing lysophospholipids and fatty acids. This enzyme may be associated with mitochondria and early endosomes. Most tissues also express read-through transcripts from the upstream gene into this gene, some of which may encode fusion proteins combining the N-terminus of the upstream gene including its JmjC domain with the almost complete coding region of this gene, including the C2 and cytoplasmic phospholipase A2 domains. Uniprot Description

PLA2G4B: a calcium-dependent phospholipase A2 that catalyzes the release of arachidonic acid from membrane phospholipids. Selectively hydrolyzes glycerophospholipids in the sn-2 position with a preference for arachidonoyl phospholipids. Has a much weaker activity than PLA2G4A. Not inhibited by pyrrolidine-2 and Wyeth-1. The N-terminal C2 domain associates with lipid membranes and mediates its regulation by presenting the active site to its substrate in response to elevations of cytosolic Ca2+. Four isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing. Isoform 3 translocates to membrane vesicles in a calcium-dependent fashion and has activity against palmitoyl-arachidonyl-phosphatidylethanolamine and low level lysophospholipase activity but no activity against phosphatidylcholine.

Protein type: EC 3.1.1.4; Phospholipase; Lipid Metabolism - arachidonic acid

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 15q11.2-q21.3

Cellular Component: early endosome membrane; mitochondrial inner membrane; extracellular region; cytosol

Molecular Function: calcium-dependent phospholipid binding; calcium-dependent phospholipase A2 activity; calcium ion binding; lysophospholipase activity

Biological Process: unfolded protein response, activation of signaling protein activity; cellular protein metabolic process; unfolded protein response; glycerophospholipid catabolic process; phospholipid metabolic process; glycerophospholipid biosynthetic process; calcium-mediated signaling; phosphatidic acid biosynthetic process; arachidonic acid metabolic process; parturition; inflammatory response

Product Notes

The PLA2G4B pla2g4b (Catalog #AAA9206934) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The immunogen sequence is 396-424. The PLA2G4B Antibody (Center) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's PLA2G4B can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), ELISA (EIA), Flow Cytometry (FC/FACS). WB~~1:1000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PLA2G4B pla2g4b for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "PLA2G4B, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
