Related Product Information for anti-PIGO antibody
This gene encodes a protein that is involved in
glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchor biosynthesis. The
GPI-anchor is a glycolipid which contains three mannose molecules
in its core backbone. The GPI-anchor is found on many blood cells
and serves to anchor proteins to the cell surface. This protein is
involved in the transfer of ethanolaminephosphate (EtNP) to the
third mannose in GPI. At least two alternatively spliced
transcripts encoding distinct isoforms have been found for this
gene.

Uniprot Description

PIGO: Ethanolamine phosphate transferase involved in glycosylphosphatidylinositol-anchor biosynthesis. Transfers ethanolamine phosphate to the GPI third mannose which links the GPI-anchor to the C-terminus of the proteins by an amide bond. Belongs to the PIGG/PIGN/PIGO family. PIGO subfamily. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Glycan Metabolism - glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchor biosynthesis; Membrane protein, multi-pass; Membrane protein, integral; EC 2.-.-.-; Transferase; Endoplasmic reticulum

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 9p13.3

Cellular Component: endoplasmic reticulum membrane; membrane; integral to membrane

Molecular Function: transferase activity

Biological Process: cellular protein metabolic process; preassembly of GPI anchor in ER membrane; GPI anchor biosynthetic process; C-terminal protein lipidation; post-translational protein modification

Product Notes

The PIGO pigo (Catalog #AAA9203330) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The immunogen sequence is 955-983. The PIGO Antibody (C-term) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's PIGO can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), ELISA (EIA). WB~~1:1000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PIGO pigo for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "PIGO, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
