A synthesized peptide derived from human PHLA2
Subcellular Location
Cytoplasm. Membrane.
Tissue Specificity
Expressed in placenta and adult prostate gland. In placenta, it is present in all cells of the villous cytotrophoblast. The protein is absent in cells from hydatidiform moles. Hydatidiform mole is a gestation characterized by abnormal development of both fetus and trophoblast. The majority of hydatidiform moles are associated with an excess of paternal to maternal genomes and are likely to result from the abnormal expression of imprinted genes (at protein level). Expressed at low levels in adult liver and lung, and fetal liver. Expressed in adult brain and neuroblastoma, medullablastoma and glioblastoma cell lines.
Predicted Cross Reactivity
Pig, Bovine, Chicken
Similarity
Pig (90%), Bovine (89%), Chicken (88%)
Conjugation
Unconjugated
Preparation and Storage
Store at -20 degree C. Stable for 12 months from date of receipt.

Related Product Information for anti-PHLA2 antibody
Description: This gene is one of several genes in the imprinted gene domain of 11p15.5 which is considered to be an important tumor suppressor gene region. Alterations in this region may be associated with the Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome, Wilms tumor, rhabdomyosarcoma, adrenocortical carcinoma, and lung, ovarian, and breast cancer. Studies of the mouse gene, however, which is also located in an imprinted gene domain, have shown that the product of this gene regulates placental growth.
Function: Plays a role in regulating placenta growth. May act via its PH domain that competes with other PH domain-containing proteins, thereby preventing their binding to membrane lipids (By similarity).
Similarity: The PH domain binds phosphoinositides with a broad specificity. It may compete with the PH domain of some other proteins, thereby interfering with their binding to phosphatidylinositol 4, 5-bisphosphate (PIP2) and phosphatidylinositol 3, 4, 5-trisphosphate (PIP3) (By similarity). Belongs to the PHLDA2 family.

NCBI Description

This gene is located in a cluster of imprinted genes on chromosome 11p15.5, which is considered to be an important tumor suppressor gene region. Alterations in this region may be associated with the Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome, Wilms tumor, rhabdomyosarcoma, adrenocortical carcinoma, and lung, ovarian, and breast cancer. This gene has been shown to be imprinted, with preferential expression from the maternal allele in placenta and liver. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2010]

Uniprot Description

Plays a role in regulating placenta growth. May act via its PH domain that competes with other PH domain-containing proteins, thereby preventing their binding to membrane lipids ().

Product Notes

The PHLA2 phlda2 (Catalog #AAA9600497) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The PHLA2 Antibody reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's PHLA2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC), ELISA (EIA). IHC: 1:50-1:200 WB: 1:500-1:2000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PHLA2 phlda2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "PHLA2, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
