Related Product Information for anti-PARK7 antibody
The DJ-1 gene encodes a highly-conserved protein which is implicated in a number of cell processes. DJ-1 was first identified as a novel oncogene that transformed mouse NIH/3T3 cells in cooperation with activated Ras. Additionally, DJ-1 was cloned in rat as SP22 or CAP-1, and found to be an infertilityrelated sperm protein whose expression is reduced in sperm treated with toxicants. DJ-1 also positively regulates the androgen receptor (AR) by forming a complex with PIASxalpha, a negative regulator of AR. The gene encoding human DJ-1 maps to chromosome 1p36.33-p36.12, a region identified as a hot spot of chromosome abnormalities in several tumor cells. Subsequently, mutations in the DJ-1 gene have been implicated in Parkinson's disease, and loss of DJ-1 function leads to neurodegeneration.

NCBI Description

The product of this gene belongs to the peptidase C56 family of proteins. It acts as a positive regulator of androgen receptor-dependent transcription. It may also function as a redox-sensitive chaperone, as a sensor for oxidative stress, and it apparently protects neurons against oxidative stress and cell death. Defects in this gene are the cause of autosomal recessive early-onset Parkinson disease 7. Two transcript variants encoding the same protein have been identified for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

DJ-1: associated with autosomal recessive early onset parkinsonism. Involved in the oxidative stress response. Three cysteines in DJ-1 may be oxidized to cysteine sulphonic acid in the cellular response to H2O2. Loss of DJ-1 function may lead to neurodegeneration.

Product Notes

The PARK7 park7 (Catalog #AAA3002940) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The PARK7 (A87) Polyclonal Antibody reacts with Human, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's PARK7 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). WB: 1:500-1:1000 IHC: 1:50-1:200. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PARK7 park7 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "PARK7, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
