For Research Use Only!
Host
Rabbit
Clonality
Polyclonal
Specificity
p8 (CT) [This rabbit antibody recognizes the C-terminus of human p8 protein.]
This antibody recognizes human p8 protein, a nuclear protein with potent mitogenic activity that is expressed in the pancreas during acute pancreatitis. Cells that express p8 grow more rapidly than non-p8 expessing cells.

100 ug affinity-purified antibody in phosphate-buffered saline, pH 7.4.
Sequence Length
82
Applicable Applications for anti-NUPR1 antibody
Immunoblot
Application Notes
Immunoblotting: use at 1:500-1:1,000 dilution. In immunoblots, a band of approximately 8 kD is detected.
Antigen
Peptide corresponding to the C-terminus of human p8 protein.
Stabilizer
None
Preservatives
0.02% sodium azide
Dilutions Instructions
Dilute in PBS or medium which is identical to that used in the assay system.
Preparation and Storage
This antibody is stable for at least one (1) year at -20 degree C. Avoid multiple freeze-thaw cycles.

Uniprot Description

NUPR1: Could participate in the response to proapoptotic stimuli and promotes cellular growth in a way that helps the tissue counteract diverse injuries. May contribute to the metastatic phenotype. Belongs to the NUPR family.

Protein type: Cell cycle regulation; Apoptosis; Cell development/differentiation

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 16p11.2

Cellular Component: cytoplasm; nucleus

Molecular Function: DNA binding; chromatin binding

Biological Process: transcription, DNA-dependent; positive regulation of apoptosis; response to toxin; male gonad development; negative regulation of cell cycle; protein amino acid acetylation; regulation of transcription, DNA-dependent; negative regulation of fibroblast proliferation; positive regulation of protein modification process; protein complex assembly; cell growth; DNA damage response, signal transduction by p53 class mediator resulting in induction of apoptosis; acute inflammatory response

Research Articles on NUPR1

1. nuclear protein 1 (NUPR1) has a role in cancer progression [review]
2. Upregulation of NUPR1 is associated with aggressive breast cancer.
3. These results identify an unexpectedly broad involvement for p8 in key cellular events linked to cardiomyocyte hypertrophy and cardiac fibroblast matrix metalloproteases production, both of which occur in heart failure.
4. The fate of Com-1 can be dually regulated by oestrogen and ubiquitin pathway
5. Antiapoptotic response of cells requires expression of both p8 and ProTalpha.
6. CCM1 gene mutation of 1292delAT may contribute to cerebral cavernous malformations.
7. SYT-SSX1 fusion protein directly down-regulated the expression of COM1, a regulator of cell proliferation.
8. clinical and cell line specific expression identified in experimental central nervous system metastases
9. The results suggest that p8 growth stage-dependent localization is regulated by acetylation, that p8 is not free within the cell but forming part of a complex and that it may exert a role in both subcellular localizations.
10. the anti-apoptotic effect previously attributed separately to p8 and prothymosin alpha is in fact borne by the p8/ProTalpha complex, the two proteins being individually inactive
11. p8 expression plays an important role in the progression of medullary thyroid carcinoma, but does not have an anti-apoptotic function.
12. The knock-down of p8 expression results in a strong inhibition of Jab1 activity.
13. Com-1/p8 is a potential tumour suppressor in human prostate cancer.

Product Notes

The NUPR1 nupr1 (Catalog #AAA194322) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's p8 (CT) can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunoblot. Immunoblotting: use at 1:500-1:1,000 dilution. In immunoblots, a band of approximately 8 kD is detected. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the NUPR1 nupr1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "p8 (CT), Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
