Related Product Information for anti-BGLAP antibody
These antisera were raised in rabbits which were immunized with Human Osteocalcin (40-49) covalently attached onto a carrier protein. The antisera have been shown to be specific for the immunocytochemical detection of Osteocalcin (40-49). This antisera has been characterized by ELISA techniques. Dilute the lyophilized antibody with 0.1 ml of 10 mg/ml BSA in PBS for the equivalent of whole antiserum. or with additional buffer for more dilute antibody. IgG content = 1.8 mgm/vial.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a highly abundant bone protein secreted by osteoblasts that regulates bone remodeling and energy metabolism. The encoded protein contains a Gla (gamma carboxyglutamate) domain, which functions in binding to calcium and hydroxyapatite, the mineral component of bone. Serum osteocalcin levels may be negatively correlated with metabolic syndrome. Read-through transcription exists between this gene and the neighboring upstream gene, PMF1 (polyamine-modulated factor 1), but the encoded protein only shows sequence identity with the upstream gene product. [provided by RefSeq, Jun 2015]

Uniprot Description

Function: Constitutes 1-2% of the total bone protein. It binds strongly to apatite and calcium.

Subcellular location: Secreted.

Post-translational modification: Gamma-carboxyglutamate residues are formed by vitamin K dependent carboxylation. These residues are essential for the binding of calcium.

Sequence similarities: Belongs to the osteocalcin/matrix Gla protein family.Contains 1 Gla (gamma-carboxy-glutamate) domain.

Product Notes

The BGLAP bglap (Catalog #AAA352206) is an Antibody and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Osteocalcin [40-49] IgG fraction reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Osteocalcin [40-49] IgG fraction can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Histo. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the BGLAP bglap for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Osteocalcin [40-49] IgG fraction, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
