Related Product Information for anti-NTF4 antibody
NT-4 Propeptide (neurotrophin-4/5) is a 27kD, secreted, glycosylated neuronal polypeptide that belongs to the NGF-b family of neurotrophic factors. It is synthesized as a proform that contains a 9kD, 56aa proregion (aa25-80) and a 130aa mature segment. The mature molecule forms both nondisulfide linked heterodimers (with NGF) and homodimers. It is unclear if 186aa NT-4 Propeptide dimerizes, but this might be anticipated. Proneurotrophins are believed to activate NGFR and sortilin complexes and neurotrophin proregions regulate neurotrophin maturation. Over aa25-80, human NT-4 Propeptide is 89% and 91% aa identical to mouse and canine NT-4 Propeptide, respectively.

NCBI Description

This gene is a member of a family of neurotrophic factors, neurotrophins, that control survival and differentiation of mammalian neurons. The expression of this gene is ubiquitous and less influenced by environmental signals. While knock-outs of other neurotrophins including nerve growth factor, brain-derived neurotrophic factor, and neurotrophin 3 prove lethal during early postnatal development, NTF5-deficient mice only show minor cellular deficits and develop normally to adulthood. [provided by RefSeq]

Uniprot Description

NT-4/5: Target-derived survival factor for peripheral sensory sympathetic neurons. Defects in NTF4 may be associated with susceptibility to primary open angle glaucoma type 1O (GLC1O). A form of primary open angle glaucoma (POAG). POAG is characterized by a specific pattern of optic nerve and visual field defects. The angle of the anterior chamber of the eye is open, and usually the intraocular pressure is increased. The disease is asymptomatic until the late stages, by which time significant and irreversible optic nerve damage has already taken place. Belongs to the NGF-beta family.

Product Notes

The NTF4 ntf4 (Catalog #AAA610603) is an Antibody produced from Chicken and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The NT-4,5 (Neurotrophin 4,5, NTF5) reacts with Human, Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's NT-4,5 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA), Western Blot (WB). Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the NTF4 ntf4 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "NT-4,5, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
