Related Product Information for anti-NR3C1 antibody
The glucocorticoid receptor (GR), a NR3 Steroid Receptor, mediates the physiological activities of glucocorticoids that modulate development, homeostasis, stress, inflammatory, and immunologic responses. GR has been shown to mediate negative-feedback signals of elevatedglucocorticoid levels; impaired GR signaling is a key mechanism in the pathogenesis of stress-related psychiatric disorders such as depression and anxiety.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes glucocorticoid receptor, which can function both as a transcription factor that binds to glucocorticoid response elements in the promoters of glucocorticoid responsive genes to activate their transcription, and as a regulator of other transcription factors. This receptor is typically found in the cytoplasm, but upon ligand binding, is transported into the nucleus. It is involved in inflammatory responses, cellular proliferation, and differentiation in target tissues. Mutations in this gene are associated with generalized glucocorticoid resistance. Alternative splicing of this gene results in transcript variants encoding either the same or different isoforms. Additional isoforms resulting from the use of alternate in-frame translation initiation sites have also been described, and shown to be functional, displaying diverse cytoplasm-to-nucleus trafficking patterns and distinct transcriptional activities (PMID:15866175). [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2011]

Uniprot Description

Receptor for glucocorticoids (GC) (PubMed:27120390). Has a dual mode of action: as a transcription factor that binds to glucocorticoid response elements (GRE), both for nuclear and mitochondrial DNA, and as a modulator of other transcription factors. Affects inflammatory responses, cellular proliferation and differentiation in target tissues. Involved in chromatin remodeling (PubMed:9590696). Plays a role in rapid mRNA degradation by binding to the 5' UTR of target mRNAs and interacting with PNRC2 in a ligand-dependent manner which recruits the RNA helicase UPF1 and the mRNA-decapping enzyme DCP1A, leading to RNA decay (PubMed:25775514). Could act as a coactivator for STAT5-dependent transcription upon growth hormone (GH) stimulation and could reveal an essential role of hepatic GR in the control of body growth ().

Product Notes

The NR3C1 nr3c1 (Catalog #AAA2401479) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-NR3C1/Glucocorticoid Receptor Antibody (aa171-220) reacts with Human Predicted: Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's NR3C1/Glucocorticoid Receptor can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Paraffin, Western Blot (WB). ELISA: 1:5000 IHC-P: 1:50 WB: 1:500-1:1000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the NR3C1 nr3c1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "NR3C1/Glucocorticoid Receptor, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
