NCBI Description

This gene encodes one of three natriuretic peptide receptors. Natriutetic peptides are small peptides which regulate blood volume and pressure, pulmonary hypertension, and cardiac function as well as some metabolic and growth processes. The product of this gene encodes a natriuretic peptide receptor responsible for clearing circulating and extracellular natriuretic peptides through endocytosis of the receptor. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.[provided by RefSeq, Feb 2011]

Uniprot Description

ANP-C: Receptor for the natriuretic peptide hormones, binding with similar affinities atrial natriuretic peptide NPPA/ANP, brain natriuretic peptide NPPB/BNP, and C-type natriuretic peptide NPPC/CNP. May function as a clearance receptor for NPPA, NPPB and NPPC, regulating their local concentrations and effects. May regulate diuresis, blood pressure and skeletal development. Does not have guanylate cyclase activity. Belongs to the ANF receptor family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Receptor, GPCR; Membrane protein, integral

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 5p13.3

Cellular Component: integral to plasma membrane

Molecular Function: protein homodimerization activity; hormone binding; natriuretic peptide receptor activity; peptide hormone binding; peptide receptor activity, G-protein coupled

Biological Process: regulation of osteoblast proliferation; phosphoinositide-mediated signaling; negative regulation of smooth muscle cell proliferation; regulation of blood pressure; positive regulation of nitric-oxide synthase activity; negative regulation of adenylate cyclase activity; G-protein signaling, coupled to IP3 second messenger (phospholipase C activating); G-protein signaling, adenylate cyclase inhibiting pathway; pancreatic juice secretion; skeletal development

Product Notes

The NPR3 npr3 (Catalog #AAA248162) is an Antibody produced from Goat and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Goat Polyclonal to Human NPR3 reacts with Gibbon, Bovine, Chimpanzee, Dog, Gorilla, Hamster, Horse, Human, Monkey, Mouse, Orangutan, Rabbit, Rat Predicted Reactivity: Bat, Chicken, Xenopus (at least 90% immunogen sequence identity) and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's NPR3 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry (IHC - Paraffin), Western Blot (WB), ELISA (EIA). ELISA (1:16000), IHC-P (10 ug/ml), WB (1 - 3 ug/ml) Usage: Peptide ELISA: antibody detection limit dilution 1:16000. Western blot: Approx 52kD band observed in Human Placenta lysates (calculated MW of 59.8kD according to NP_000899.1). Recommended concentration: 1-3 ug/ml.Tested in IHC-P only with human FFPE.. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the NPR3 npr3 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "NPR3, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
