Rabbit anti-Human NOTCH4 Polyclonal Antibody | anti-NOTCH4 antibody
Anti-NOTCH4 antibody
Background: NOTCH4(NOTCH, DROSOPHILA, HOMOLOG OF, 4) also known as INT3 or NOTCH3, FORMERLY, is a member of the Notch family. In situ hybridization revealed that Notch4 transcripts are primarily restricted to endothelial cells in embryonic and adult life, suggesting a specific role forNotch4 during development of vertebrate endothelium. The sequences of the mouse and human NOTCH4 proteins are 82% identical. Northern blot analysis revealed that NOTCH4(S) is the major transcript and is expressed in a wide variety of tissues. Fluorescence in situ hybridization confirmed the location of the NOTCH4 gene at chromosome 6p21.3. In linkage disequilibrium mapping of the MHC region in 80 British parent-offspring trios, Wei and Hemmings(2000) found that NOTCH4 was highly associated with schizophrenia. Repression of Notch4 resolved ataxia and reversed the disease progression, demonstrating that Notch4 is not only sufficient to induce but also required to sustain the disease.
NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene encodes a member of the Notch family. Members of this Type 1 transmembrane protein family share structural characteristics including an extracellular domain consisting of multiple epidermal growth factor-like (EGF) repeats, and an intracellular domain consisting of multiple, different domain types. Notch family members play a role in a variety of developmental processes by controlling cell fate decisions. The Notch signaling network is an evolutionarily conserved intercellular signaling pathway which regulates interactions between physically adjacent cells. In Drosophilia, notch interaction with its cell-bound ligands (delta, serrate) establishes an intercellular signaling pathway that plays a key role in development. Homologues of the notch-ligands have also been identified in human, but precise interactions between these ligands and the human notch homologues remain to be determined. This protein is cleaved in the trans-Golgi network, and presented on the cell surface as a heterodimer. This protein functions as a receptor for membrane bound ligands, and may play a role in vascular, renal and hepatic development. This gene may be associated with susceptibility to schizophrenia in a small portion of cases. An alternative splice variant has been described but its biological nature has not been determined. Uniprot Description
NOTCH4: Functions as a receptor for membrane-bound ligands Jagged1, Jagged2 and Delta1 to regulate cell-fate determination. Upon ligand activation through the released notch intracellular domain (NICD) it forms a transcriptional activator complex with RBPJ/RBPSUH and activates genes of the enhancer of split locus. Affects the implementation of differentiation, proliferation and apoptotic programs. May regulate branching morphogenesis in the developing vascular system. Heterodimer of a C-terminal fragment N(TM) and a N- terminal fragment N(EC) which are probably linked by disulfide bonds. Interacts with MAML1, MAML2 and MAML3 which act as transcriptional coactivators for NOTCH4. Highly expressed in the heart, moderately in the lung and placenta and at low levels in the liver, skeletal muscle, kidney, pancreas, spleen, lymph node, thymus, bone marrow and fetal liver. No expression was seen in adult brain or peripheral blood leukocytes. Belongs to the NOTCH family. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes
The NOTCH4 notch4 (Catalog #AAA176101) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-NOTCH4 antibody reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's NOTCH4 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the NOTCH4 notch4 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "NOTCH4, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
