Related Product Information for anti-NBN antibody
The Nijmegen breakage syndrome (NBS) is characterized by defects in cell cycle checkpoints, growth retardation, an increased propensity for cancer and sensitivity to ionizing radiation (1). Repair of DNA double-strand breaks by radiation is dependent on a multifunctional complex containing Rad50, Mre11 and the NBS1 gene product p95/NBS1 (also called p95 or nibrin) (2). p95/NBS1 is a protein with a Forkheadassociated domain and a carboxy-terminal repeat frequently found in cell cycle regulatory and DNA repair proteins (1,3). The overlap between clinical and cellular phenotypes in ataxia telangiectasia (AT) and NBS suggests that AT-mutated (ATM) and p95/NBS1 may function in the same biochemical pathway. Recent research has shown that ATM interacts with and phosphorylates p95/NBS1 on Ser343 after IR (4-7).

NCBI Description

Mutations in this gene are associated with Nijmegen breakage syndrome, an autosomal recessive chromosomal instability syndrome characterized by microcephaly, growth retardation, immunodeficiency, and cancer predisposition. The encoded protein is a member of the MRE11/RAD50 double-strand break repair complex which consists of 5 proteins. This gene product is thought to be involved in DNA double-strand break repair and DNA damage-induced checkpoint activation. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

NBS1: a member of the MRE11/RAD50 double-strand break repair complex. Involved in DNA double-strand break repair and DNA damage-induced checkpoint activation. Mutation results in the Nijmegen breakage syndrome (NBS), an autosomal recessive chromosomal instability syndrome.

Product Notes

The NBN nbn (Catalog #AAA622025) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Nibrin, p95 (Nijmegen Breakage Syndrome, NBS1) reacts with Human, Monkey, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Nibrin, p95 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Dilution: Western Blot: 1:1000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the NBN nbn for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Nibrin, p95, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
