NCBI Description

guanylyl cyclase; functions as receptor for heat-stable enterotoxin responsible for acute diarrhea [RGD, Feb 2006]

Uniprot Description

GUCY2C: Receptor for the E.coli heat-stable enterotoxin (E.coli enterotoxin markedly stimulates the accumulation of cGMP in mammalian cells expressing GC-C). Also activated by the endogenous peptide guanylin. Defects in GUCY2C are the cause of diarrhea type 6 (DIAR6). A relatively mild, early-onset chronic diarrhea that may be associated with increased susceptibility to inflammatory bowel disease, small-bowel obstruction, and esophagitis. Defects in GUCY2C are a cause of meconium ileus (MECIL). A condition characterized by a intestinal obstruction due to inspissated meconium in the distal ileum and cecum, which develops in utero and presents shortly after birth as a failure to pass meconium. Meconium ileus is a known clinical manifestation of cystic fibrosis. Belongs to the adenylyl cyclase class-4/guanylyl cyclase family.

Protein type: Membrane protein, integral; EC 4.6.1.2; Nucleotide Metabolism - purine; Guanylyl cyclase; Receptor, misc.; Kinase, protein; Protein kinase, dual-specificity (receptor); Lyase; Protein kinase, RGC; RGC group; RGC family

Cellular Component: endoplasmic reticulum membrane; guanylate cyclase complex, soluble; integral to membrane; plasma membrane

Molecular Function: adenylate cyclase activity; ATP binding; GTP binding; guanylate cyclase activity; protein kinase activity; toxin binding

Biological Process: cGMP biosynthetic process; protein amino acid phosphorylation; regulation of cell proliferation; response to toxin; signal transduction

Product Notes

The PGCC gucy2c (Catalog #AAA543736) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Natriuretic Peptide Receptor C / PGCC Antibody FITC-Conjugated reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Natriuretic Receptor C / PGCC can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Confocal Microscopy (CM), ELISA (EIA), Immunocytochemistry (ICC), Immunofluorescence (IF), Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Western Blot (WB). Confocal Microscopy||1:200 Dot Blot: 1:10,000 ELISA: 1:10,000 Immunocytochemistry: 1:200 Immunofluorescence: 1:200 Immunohistochemistry: 1:200 Western Blot: 1:500. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PGCC gucy2c for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Natriuretic Receptor C / PGCC, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
