NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene is a member of the myotubularin family of phosphoinositide lipid phosphatases. The encoded protein possesses phosphatase activity towards phosphatidylinositol-3-phosphate and phosphatidylinositol-3,5-bisphosphate. Mutations in this gene are a cause of Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease type 4B, an autosomal recessive demyelinating neuropathy. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding multiple isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2011]
Uniprot Description
MTMR2: Phosphatase that acts on lipids with a phosphoinositol headgroup. Has phosphatase activity towards phosphatidylinositol 3-phosphate and phosphatidylinositol 3,5-bisphosphate. Homooligomer and heterooligomer. Interacts with SBF1 and SBF2. interaction with SBF1 increases phosphatase activity. Belongs to the protein-tyrosine phosphatase family. Non-receptor class myotubularin subfamily.
Protein type: Phosphatase, lipid; EC 3.1.3.64; Carbohydrate Metabolism - fructose and mannose; Motility/polarity/chemotaxis; Protein phosphatase, tyrosine (non-receptor); EC 3.1.3.95; Cofactor and Vitamin Metabolism - riboflavin; Cofactor and Vitamin Metabolism - thiamine

Product Notes
The MTMR2 mtmr2 (Catalog #AAA9412016) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Myotubularin related protein 2 antibody reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Myotubularin related protein 2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). Western blotting: 1:500-1:3000 Immunohistochemistry: 1:100-1:250. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the MTMR2 mtmr2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Myotubularin related protein 2, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
