NCBI Description

Myosin, a structural component of muscle, consists of two heavy chains and four light chains. The protein encoded by this gene is a myosin light chain that may regulate muscle contraction by modulating the ATPase activity of myosin heads. The encoded protein binds calcium and is activated by myosin light chain kinase. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

MRLC1: Myosin regulatory subunit that plays an important role in regulation of both smooth muscle and nonmuscle cell contractile activity via its phosphorylation. Implicated in cytokinesis, receptor capping, and cell locomotion. Myosin is an hexamer of 2 heavy chains and 4 light chains. Smooth muscle tissues and in some, but not all, nonmuscle cells. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Motility/polarity/chemotaxis; Contractile

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 20q11.23

Cellular Component: stress fiber; muscle myosin complex; cytosol; Z disc

Molecular Function: structural constituent of muscle; calcium ion binding

Biological Process: axon guidance; muscle contraction; regulation of muscle contraction; ephrin receptor signaling pathway

Product Notes

The MYL9 myl9 (Catalog #AAA6323368) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The MYL9, CT (MYL9, MLC2, MRLC1, MYRL2, Myosin regulatory light polypeptide 9, 20kD myosin light chain, MLC-2C, Myosin RLC, Myosin regulatory light chain 2, smooth muscle isoform, Myosin regulatory light chain 9, Myosin regulatory light chain MRLC1) (MaxLight reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's MYL9 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Paraffin, FLISA, Western Blot (WB). Applications are based on unconjugated antibody. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the MYL9 myl9 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "MYL9, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
