Related Product Information for anti-mT0R antibody
The mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR, FRAP, RAFT) is a Ser/Thr protein kinase that functions as an ATP and amino acid sensor to balance nutrient availability and cell growth. When sufficient nutrients are available, mTOR responds to a phosphatidic acid-mediated signal to transmit a positive signal to p70 S6 kinase and participate in the inactivation of the eIF4E inhibitor, 4E-BP1. These events result in the translation of specific mRNA subpopulations. mTOR is phosphorylated at Ser2448 via the PI3 kinase/Akt signaling pathway and autophosphorylated at Ser2481. mTOR plays a key role in cell growth and homeostasis and may be abnormally regulated in tumors. For these reasons, mTOR is currently under investigation as a potential target for anti-cancer therapy.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene belongs to a family of phosphatidylinositol kinase-related kinases. These kinases mediate cellular responses to stresses such as DNA damage and nutrient deprivation. This protein acts as the target for the cell-cycle arrest and immunosuppressive effects of the FKBP12-rapamycin complex. The ANGPTL7 gene is located in an intron of this gene. Uniprot Description

mTOR: an atypical kinase belonging to the PIKK family of kinases. Is the catalytic subunit of two protein complexes, mTORC1 and mTORC2. mTORC1 activates S6K and inactivates 4E-BP1, up-regulating protein synthesis. mTORC1 contains Raptor, a positive regulatory subunit and scaffold for recruiting substrates, two negative regulators, PRAS40 and DEPTOR, and mLST8; it is a target for the cell-cycle arrest and immunosuppressive effects of the FKBP12-rapamycin complex. mTORC2, a downstream effector of PI3K, is insensitive to rapamycin and activates Akt by phosphorylating a key activation site. mTORC2 contains regulatory subunits Rictor and mSIN1, PROTOR, mLST8, and the negative regulator DEPTOR. mTORC1 suppresses PI3K activity via a strong negative feedback loop that involves S6K1. Inhibiting mTORC1 ablates this negative feedback loop and potentiates PI3K signaling. Known inhibitors of mTOR include rapamycin, temsirolimus (CCI-779).

Product Notes

The mT0R mtor (Catalog #AAA3004405) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The mT0R (Ser2481) polyclonal antibody reacts with Human, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's mT0R can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunofluorescence (IF). WB: 1:500~1:1000 IF: 1:50~1:200. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the mT0R mtor for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "mT0R, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
